Ensoniq ESQ1
8 voices, 8 channel multimode (!), 3 digital oscillators per voice, analog 24dB lowpass, 4 envelopes, 3 LFOs, easy to program, complete MIDI implementation. This is a nice guy and one of Stefan's absolute favourites. The sound is strangely unique and has a certain "blackness" in it, maybe this is because the waveforms are sampled with 8 bit resolution.
Korg M1
Roland JX3P
6 voices, 2 oscillators, hardsync, filters like the α-Juno but only one simple ADSR envelope. Its midi implementation is poor, just note on/off without velocity (an extension chip exists but we don't have it). We like its hardsync screaming very lot, especially during our concerts...
